The Traffic Cop's Perfect Heist

Action,Crime,Comedy  South Korea

The movie Going by the Book is a South Korean crime-comedy film directed by Ra Hee-chan and released in 2007. The film stars Jung Jae-young as Jeong Do-man, a dedicated but overly zealous traffic cop who is given the opportunity to participate in a police drill as the bank robber. Do-man, who takes everything very seriously and tends to follow the rules to the letter, decides to carry out the "perfect" heist, and meticulously plans every detail of the robbery to ensure that he will not get caught.

As the police drill unfolds, Do-man's performance impresses his colleagues, who believe that he is an actual criminal. However, Do-man begins to take the drill too seriously and loses sight of the fact that it is just a training exercise. He becomes increasingly convinced that he can pull off the heist without getting caught and starts to use more extreme tactics to achieve his goal.

Meanwhile, the police chief Lee Seung-man (played by Lee Sung-min) struggles with managing the drill and balancing his duty to protect the public with his need to maintain order and prevent panic. As the drill progresses, Do-man's actions become more audacious, and the police force begins to close in on him. In the end, Do-man's obsession with perfection leads to a potentially disastrous outcome, and he must face the consequences of his actions.

Going by the Book is a clever and entertaining film that examines the tension between following the rules and taking risks, and the consequences that can arise when people become too focused on their own goals. The movie features strong performances from its cast and a tightly woven plot that will keep viewers engaged throughout.
