The aliens in the movie are from the "Black Hole Planet 3" and disguised as humans. Their ultimate goal is to conquer Earth and harvest its resources. In order to achieve their goal, they create a robotic version of Godzilla, known as Mechagodzilla, which is equipped with advanced weaponry and abilities.
Mechagodzilla is initially successful in its attacks on Godzilla, almost defeating him in their first encounter. However, the earthlings discover that the mythical creature King Seesar has the power to weaken Mechagodzilla's defenses. They awaken the dormant creature from its temple and convince it to help them in their fight against the alien threat.
