Go Back to China is a comedy-drama film directed by Emily Ting and released on March 6, 2020. The film follows the story of Sasha Li, a spoiled and entitled party girl who lives in Los Angeles. Sasha lives off her trust fund and spends most of her time partying with her friends and pursuing her passion for fashion design.
However, things take a turn for the worse when Sasha's father cuts off her trust fund and gives her an ultimatum: she must go back to China and work for the family toy business to learn the value of hard work and responsibility.
Reluctantly, Sasha travels to China and begins working at the toy factory, facing cultural differences and language barriers. Her father assigns her to work on the factory floor and develop new toy products, which requires her to work long hours, learn new skills and connect with her Chinese roots.
As Sasha navigates this new environment and bonds with her factory co-workers, she faces personal challenges such as being distant from her family and dealing with her troubled relationship with her half-sister, Carol. Sasha also discovers a shocking family secret that shakes her to her core.
Through her experiences in China, Sasha learns the importance of hard work, family, and cultural identity. She works hard to gain her father's respect and to earn back his trust, while also discovering her own path in life and learning to embrace her Chinese heritage.
