The movie Gloomy Sunday, also known as Ein Lied von Liebe und Tod, is a romantic drama that takes place in Budapest during the 1930s. The film was directed by Rolf Schübel and was released in 1999.
The story centers around a restaurant owner named Laszlo who hires a pianist named András to play in his restaurant. The two men develop a close friendship and both fall in love with the beautiful waitress Ilona. András becomes inspired to compose a song for Ilona, which he calls Gloomy Sunday.
