The mother in the story, played by actress Amy Smart, is a former scientist who created the Shred toxin unknowingly. She is haunted by her past and takes extreme measures to protect her family from the outside world. The eldest daughter, Bee (played by actress Sofia D'Elia), is in love with a boy she met before the toxins spread, and dreams of escaping the glass building to be with him. Evie (played by actress Ser'Darius Blain) is the responsible one, taking care of the family and trying to keep everyone safe. Daisy (played by actress Jessica Alexander) is the youngest and most innocent, and is fascinated by the natural world outside the glass walls.
