The film follows Karl's descent into madness as he becomes increasingly obsessed with Terry and her son, whom he sees as the perfect family that he never had. He begins to stalk them, using their own technology against them to enact his twisted revenge.
As Karl's killings escalate, a group of detectives, led by Lieutenant Parker, investigate the murders, but they cannot seem to catch the elusive killer. Meanwhile, Terry begins to suspect that something is not right as she experiences strange disturbances in her home and starts receiving ominous messages on her computer.
It's not until a final confrontation between Karl and Terry that the truth is revealed about his motives and his diabolical plan. Using his technological skills, Karl has created a machine that can transfer his consciousness into another body, and he plans to use Josh as his next host.
As the film reaches its thrilling climax, Terry and the detectives race against time to stop Karl before he can complete his sinister plan and escape into a new body forever.
