Get the Gringo is a 2012 American crime thriller film directed by Adrian Grunberg and written by Mel Gibson, Stacy Perskie, and Grunberg. Mel Gibson plays a criminal who is only referred to as "Driver" throughout the film. He is caught by Mexican authorities and sent to a tough prison known as El Pueblito, located near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Inside El Pueblito, Driver quickly learns that surviving among the inmates requires forming alliances and staying out of trouble with the corrupt prison guards. He befriends a nine-year-old boy named Diego, who also lives inside the prison with his mother, and they form an unlikely bond.

As Driver works to plot his escape from El Pueblito, he uses his criminal skills to help Diego and his mother. Together, they navigate the dangerous world inside the prison and the corruption that surrounds it.

Throughout the film, flashbacks reveal more about Driver's past and his reasons for being in Mexico. As the story progresses, the lines between right and wrong become blurred, and Driver is forced to make tough decisions that ultimately affect his future.

Get the Gringo received positive reviews for its action sequences, acting, and story, with critics praising Gibson's performance. The film was released straight to video on demand, but it has since gained a cult following and is considered by many to be an underrated gem.
