Gates of Paradise is the fourth and final installment in the V.C. Andrews's Casteel series. The movie is based on the book of the same name and was released in 2019.
The story revolves around Annie Stonewall, who is the daughter of Leigh VanVoreen and Troy Tatterton. She is crippled due to an accident that happened when she was young. She gets taken to Farthinggale Manor by Tony Tatterton, who is her uncle and also her father's cousin.
At the manor, Annie meets her stepmother, Jillian, and her step-siblings, Bart and Cindy. Annie longs for her half-brother, Luke, who is the only family member she feels close to. However, she is kept away from him by her family and nurse Broadfield, who wants to keep her under control.
One day, while exploring the woods near the manor, Annie discovers a cottage which leads her to uncover the mystery of her past. She discovers that Tony Tatterton is not her actual uncle but her father's cousin, who had an affair with her mother, Leigh. She also learns that Luke is actually her half-brother and not her cousin as she was led to believe.
As she tries to come to terms with her new-found knowledge, Annie's life becomes increasingly complicated. The Casteel family's curse seems to be looming over her, and her hopes of being with Luke are darkened by the sinister spell.
