Gas

Comedy  United States of America

The movie Gas is a 2021 independent drama film directed by Anthony Onah, who is widely known for his previous work on The Price. Gas tells the story of two estranged brothers, Damon and Mookie, who are brought together after their father's untimely death. While the brothers have a rocky past, they must now work together for at least a year in order to inherit their father’s gas station business.

Damon, a successful lawyer living in San Francisco, is forced to return to his hometown of Los Angeles after the passing of his father in order to attend his funeral. However, his return to L.A. is short-lived when he discovers the stipulation that he and his brother must co-manage the gas station for a year if they want to receive their share of the family inheritance.

Mookie, played by actor Kain, is Damon's younger brother, who has a criminal history and a reputation for irresponsibility. This reputation is something that Damon has held against him since Mookie's drug dealing days prevented him from securing a college scholarship.

Against Damon's initial refusal, the brothers are forced to work together and try to keep the failing gas station business afloat. Along the way, they encounter various challenges and disagreements that almost tear them apart. However, their shared memories and the realization that their relationship is more important than money ultimately bring them closer together.

In addition to Alexander and Kain, the film stars Khalil Everage, Jordyn Woods, Gabrielle Union, and Essence Atkins. The movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and received positive reviews, with critics praising the performances, direction, and emotional depth of the story.
