Desert Dreams: Escaping the Dead Calm

Drama,Romance  United States of America

The mother, Nora, works at a local diner and has a troubled past, which has made her wary of men and relationships. Shade, the younger daughter, spends her time writing romance novels and dreaming of a more exciting life, often escaping into her own fantasies. Trudi, on the other hand, rebels against their small-town life and struggles with her own identity, partly due to her absent father.

As the story progresses, Nora begins a relationship with a truck driver named Dank, which puts a strain on her relationship with her daughters. Shade becomes infatuated with a mysterious older man named Javier, who has recently arrived in town. Trudi begins to experiment with her own sexuality and begins to question her own desires.

As tensions rise and relationships are tested, the three women must learn to confront their own fears and desires in order to find their place in the world. The movie deals with themes of love, loss, family, and the struggle to find one's own identity in a small, stifling town.
