In the movie Gargoyles, the father and daughter team are a part of a research team studying the desert landscape when they hear about the mysterious carcass/skeleton. They decide to investigate further and find the creature's remains, which are unlike anything they have seen before.
As they try to remove the remains, they are warned by a local Native American tribe not to disturb the burial grounds. However, they refuse to listen and take the remains back to their lab for analysis. This sets off a chain of events that leads to the awakening of a colony of gargoyles who have been dormant in nearby caverns.
The gargoyles see humans as a threat and begin attacking anyone who comes near their territory. The father and daughter, along with the help of a local expert on Native American legends and a brave reporter, must find a way to stop the gargoyles from wreaking havoc on the town.
The movie is filled with suspenseful scenes of the gargoyles attacking unsuspecting victims and the desperate attempts of the humans to find a way to defeat them. The climax of the movie has a thrilling battle between the humans and the gargoyles as they fight for control of the town. In the end, the humans are able to use their knowledge of the gargoyles' weakness to defeat them and send them back into hibernation.
