In the movie Garfield, Jon Arbuckle, a cartoonist, decides to adopt a lovable and energetic dog named Odie to impress Liz, his veterinarian crush. Garfield, his lazy and overweight cat, initially dislikes Odie because he sees him as a threat to his position as the center of attention in the house. Garfield's dislike for Odie grows when he realizes that Odie is taking up a lot of Jon's time and attention.
One day, while Jon was away, Garfield tricks Odie into leaving the house so he could have it all to himself. However, Odie ends up getting lost, and Garfield starts to feel guilty for what he had done. Garfield then teams up with his mouse friend, Louis, and sets out to find Odie.
They eventually find Odie and bring him back home. In a surprising turn, Garfield saves Odie from falling off a bridge, showing his compassionate and heroic side. Jon, Liz, and Odie's owner are all impressed by Garfield's actions, and he becomes a hero in their eyes.
The movie ends with Garfield accepting Odie as part of the family, and the two pets bond over their mutual love of lasagna. The film features comedic moments, catchy songs, and colorful animation that make it enjoyable for both children and adults.
