Gangs of New York is a historical crime drama set in the Five Points district of New York City during the mid-19th century. The story follows Amsterdam Vallon, a young Irish-American immigrant who witnessed his father's murder at the hands of Bill "The Butcher" Cutting, the ruthless leader of a powerful gang known as the Natives.
After spending years in an orphanage, Amsterdam returns to the Five Points seeking revenge against Bill the Butcher. He teams up with a young pickpocket named Johnny, who becomes his loyal sidekick and helps him navigate the dangerous world of gang politics and turf wars.
