The young boy's name is Toru and he lives in a small seaside town in Japan. One day, while playing on the beach, he discovers a strange egg that has washed ashore. He takes it home and cares for it, not knowing what kind of creature could hatch from it.
When the egg finally hatches, he is surprised to find a baby turtle inside. He names it Toto after his grandfather's pet turtle. As Toto grows, Toru begins to realize that he's not just any ordinary turtle - he has special powers and abilities that are unlike anything Toru has seen before.
As Toru cares for Toto, he also learns about the legend of Gamera, a giant turtle-like monster that protected the earth from other monsters. Toru begins to believe that Toto may be the new incarnation of Gamera and is determined to train him to become strong enough to battle any monsters that threaten their town.
Unfortunately, a fearsome monster called Zedus soon appears and begins wreaking havoc on the town. Toru and Toto team up to fight Zedus, but they soon realize that they may not be strong enough to defeat him alone.
In a thrilling final battle, Toto transforms into a full-grown Gamera and takes on Zedus. With his incredible speed, power, and fierce determination, Toto proves to be more than a match for Zedus and emerges victorious.
In the end, Toru watches as Gamera soars off into the sky, ready to protect the earth from any other monsters that may try to harm it.
