The movie begins with the appearance of multiple Gyaos monsters, causing chaos and destruction throughout Japan. Gamera, the giant flying turtle who has always been the savior of humanity, tries to battle them but suffers from a serious injury during the fight.
Meanwhile, Ayana discovers an egg in a cave while searching for her missing pet turtle. She takes care of the egg and eventually, a new monster named Iris hatches out of it. Ayana forms a strong bond with Iris, who possesses the power to manipulate its body through telekinesis.
Ayana is still mourning the death of her parents, who were killed during a previous Gamera attack. She blames Gamera for their deaths and manipulates Iris into seeking revenge against Gamera. Iris uses its telekinetic powers to control Ayana and they both team up to take down Gamera.
As the movie progresses, it is revealed that Iris is not a naturally occurring creature, but was instead created as a bio-weapon by a group of ancient civilization. Their goal was to use Iris to destroy Gamera and take over the world. But Iris has its own agenda and turns against its creators, choosing to fight both Gamera and the humans.
The battle between Gamera and Iris is intense and destructive, causing massive collateral damage to the city. Eventually, Ayana realizes the error of her ways and decides to help Gamera defeat Iris. She sacrifices herself in the process and, in a poignant moment, Iris dies while protecting Ayana.
In the end, Gamera defeats the remaining Gyaos monsters and flies off into the sunset. But the impact of Ayana and Iris's story is felt long after the credits roll, as we are left with questions about the morality of bio-weapons, the dangers of revenge, and the impact that loss and grief can have on a person's psyche.
