The cop's name is Xiaoming (played by Andy Lau), and he works for a high-tech police force in the future. The corporation he's battling is called the Golden Group, and they'll stop at nothing to eliminate Dr. Masterson (played by Louis Fan), who has developed a new technology that could revolutionize the energy industry and end the Golden Group's monopoly.
To save Masterson and prevent the Golden Group from altering the course of history, Xiaoming uses a time-traveling device to go back to the present-day and stop the corporation's assassins. Along the way, he meets a young woman named Bu (played by Barbie Hsu), who becomes his unlikely ally in the fight against the Golden Group's forces.
