Time Warriors: Defending the Future Against Evil

Action,Comedy,Science Fiction  Hong Kong

Future Cops is a Hong Kong martial arts action-comedy film directed by Wong Jing and released in 1993. It is loosely based on the Street Fighter video game franchise and features many characters with similar names and abilities to the game's characters.

In the future, crime lord The General (played by Richard Ng) is attempting to take over the world, but is being opposed by the government official Ma Kwun (played by Hu Chin). The General decides to travel back in time to 1993 with his henchmen Kent (played by Ken Lo), Thai King (played by Suki Kwan), and Toyota (played by Michael Wong) in order to prevent Ma Kwun from gaining power by killing him.

Future Cops Lung (played by Andy Lau), Broom Man (played by Jacky Cheung), Ti Man (played by Simon Yam), and Ah-Sing (played by Dicky Cheung) intercept The General's plan and decide to travel back in time themselves to protect Ma Kwun. However, they must first train themselves to become more powerful, and they do so by training under a wise master (played by Chingmy Yau) who teaches them special martial arts moves.

Once they arrive in 1993, Lung, Broom Man, Ti Man, and Ah-Sing must defeat The General's henchmen in order to protect Ma Kwun and ensure that the future remains unchanged. The film features many martial arts fight scenes, humor, and special effects.

Future Cops was both a critical and commercial success in Hong Kong, and has since gained a cult following in other countries. While it was not officially licensed by Capcom, the creators of the Street Fighter franchise, it has been praised for its faithful adaptation of the game's characters and abilities.
