Future '38 is a science fiction comedy film that follows a young American Agent named Essex (Nick Westrate) from the year 1938 who is sent to the future to prevent Adolf Hitler from achieving world domination. He is transported to the year 2018 after ingesting a serum that allows him to travel through time.
Unfamiliar with the advanced technology and culture of the contemporary era, Essex teams up with Banky (Betty Gilpin), a no-nonsense woman who is skeptical of his time-traveling claims. Together, they set out to foil a plot by Hitler to get his hands on a secret weapon that will enable him to rule the world.
As the duo navigates the bustling high-tech society of 2018, they encounter a series of eccentric characters, including a group of mobsters who try to extort them. Essex's old-fashioned values and manners prove to be a mismatch with the contemporary generation, causing him to be mistaken as a lunatic on more than one occasion.
One such encounter leads him to a young woman, Leena (Sophia Takal), who becomes smitten with him despite the fact that he is eighty years her senior. As Essex and Banky race against time to save the world, they inevitably find themselves caught up in a series of comical situations and unexpected twists and turns.
The film ultimately delivers an amusing commentary on the human condition. The timeless themes of love, friendship, and bravery are juxtaposed with the fast-paced, technology-driven world of the present day.
