Katherine Sullivan is a successful author who suffers from acute agoraphobia, which means she is afraid of leaving her house. Her husband, Philip, encourages her to work through her fear and even arranges for a therapist to visit their home for her sessions. One night, Katherine witnesses her husband's murder and is questioned by Detective Frank McIntyre. But when Katherine later tries to show McIntyre the spot where her husband's body was, they discover that the body is missing and McIntyre is nowhere to be found.
Fearing for her safety, Katherine hires private investigator Jack Mize to help find out what really happened. However, as Jack delves deeper into the case, he begins to doubt Katherine's sanity and the validity of her story. Uncovering a web of deceit and lies, Jack must determine whether Katherine is truly a victim or a suspect in her husband's murder.
As Katherine and Jack's investigation continues, they come across several suspects, including Philip's business partner, a housekeeper, and even Katherine's therapist. But as they get closer to the truth, they realize that the killer is much closer to home than they ever could have imagined. With Katherine's life on the line, Jack must race against time to solve the case and bring the killer to justice before it's too late.
