From Russia with Love is a 1963 British spy film directed by Terence Young and starring Sean Connery as James Bond. The film is based on Ian Fleming's 1957 novel of the same name, and is the second in the James Bond film series.
In the movie, Bond is seduced by Tatiana Romanova, an Eastern Bloc cipher clerk who offers to defect with a Russian decoding machine called the Lektor. Unbeknownst to her, her mission is actually part of a SPECTRE scheme to lure Bond to Istanbul and steal the device from him. Bond meets with Tatiana and makes an agreement to smuggle her and the Lektor out of the country, but things quickly turn dangerous when they become the target of both SPECTRE's assassins and the Soviet counterintelligence agency.
The movie is also notable for introducing several recurring characters to the Bond franchise, including M's secretary Miss Moneypenny and SPECTRE agents Ernst Stavro Blofeld and Rosa Klebb. From Russia with Love has been praised for its plot, characters, and action sequences, and is considered one of the best James Bond films of all time.
