In Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Tommy Jarvis (played by Thom Mathews) has been released from a psychiatric hospital after spending years there due to his traumatic experience with Jason Voorhees in a previous film. Determined to put an end to his nightmares, Tommy and his friend Allen (played by Ron Palillo) decide to exhume Jason's corpse and destroy it by cremation.
However, during their attempt to cremate Jason's body, a lightning strike resurrects him from the dead and he returns to Crystal Lake to continue his killing spree. Tommy and Allen warn the local police, but their claims fall on deaf ears as the new sheriff and his deputy don't believe them.
As Jason begins his new killing spree, Tommy teams up with the sheriff's daughter, Megan (played by Jennifer Cooke), and together they try to stop Jason before he can harm anyone else. Along the way, they encounter a group of camp counselors who are preparing for the opening of a nearby camp and soon become Jason's next victims.
The film features the return of classic horror elements from the series such as jump scares, gore, and tension-building music. However, it also adds a more comedic tone that was absent from previous entries. It is considered one of the most successful instalments in the franchise and is credited with revitalizing the series after a decline in popularity.
