Friday the 13th Part III is a horror slasher film released in 1982. It is the third installment in the Friday the 13th franchise and was directed by Steve Miner. The film takes place immediately after the events of Friday the 13th Part 2.
The film follows a group of teenagers who decide to spend their weekend at Crystal Lake. They are unaware of the legend of Jason Voorhees, who was believed to have drowned in the lake years ago. However, Jason is very much alive and has been hiding in the woods for years. With the help of a hockey mask, he starts to murder the unsuspecting counselors one by one.
The film introduced the iconic hockey mask that has become synonymous with Jason Voorhees, as well as the character Shelly, who is responsible for giving Jason his iconic mask. The film also uses 3D technology, which was a new and exciting feature for audiences at the time.
Friday the 13th Part III received mixed reviews from critics but was a commercial success, grossing over $36 million at the box office. It remains a staple of the horror genre and a classic slasher film.
