Friday the 13th: A New Beginning is a 1985 horror film directed by Danny Steinmann. It is the fifth installment in the Friday the 13th franchise and follows the story of Tommy Jarvis, who is now a troubled teenager and living in a halfway house for troubled youth after the traumatic events he experienced at Crystal Lake.
The film opens with Tommy having a nightmare about Jason Voorhees, the serial killer who terrorized him and his friends at Crystal Lake years ago. He wakes up in a cold sweat and is comforted by his friend, Reggie.
As the story progresses, a series of brutal murders take place in and around the halfway house, and the residents begin to suspect that Jason is back and killing again. However, the mystery deepens when it becomes clear that there is more than one killer on the loose.
Tommy becomes increasingly unhinged as the murders continue, and he begins to have hallucinations that he is turning into Jason. He is questioned by the police and becomes a prime suspect in the killings, causing him to fear for his own safety.
Eventually, the real killer is revealed to be Roy, a paramedic who had been impersonating Jason in order to get revenge for the death of his son, who was killed by one of the residents at the halfway house.
