Frequency is a science fiction thriller film that was released in 2000. It was directed by Gregory Hoblit and stars Jim Caviezel as John Sullivan, a police officer who discovers that he can communicate with his father, Frank Sullivan (Dennis Quaid), who died 30 years ago in a fire. The communication takes place through a ham radio that John discovers in his father's old workshop.
As John and Frank start to communicate, they realize that they are talking across time and that they can alter events in the past that will impact the present. John is able to prevent his father's death in the fire, but as a result, a serial killer known as the Nightingale Killer emerges. John and Frank must work together to catch the killer and prevent other murders from occurring.
However, the changes they make to the past have unintended consequences that affect their present lives. John's wife, for instance, was not originally in his timeline, but they meet after he saves his father. She is now at risk of disappearing from his life. John and Frank must figure out how to restore the original timeline and fix their mistakes.
Throughout the film, Frequency explores themes of fate, destiny, family, and the consequences of our actions. The movie has received positive reviews for its unique storyline and performances by its lead actors.
