Fremont is a character-driven drama that follows the life of Donya, an Afghan refugee living in Fremont. The movie starts with Donya struggling to find her place in a new country, haunted by memories of her past and the people she had to leave behind. She spends most of her time working at a fortune cookie factory, where she writes the fortunes that go inside the cookies.
Donya's life changes when she meets a man named Benny, who works at the factory with her. Benny is everything that Donya is not: outgoing, confident, and carefree. Despite their differences, Donya is drawn to Benny, and they start a relationship.
Even though Donya tries her best to forget the past, it keeps creeping up on her. She suffers from insomnia and has nightmares about the people she left behind in Kabul. To help her cope, Donya sees a therapist and spends time with her friend, Laila, who is also an Afghan refugee.
As the relationship between Donya and Benny develops, they face challenges that test their love. Donya's past and cultural differences come between them, and they struggle to find a common ground.
