Freeway is a 1996 thriller film directed by Matthew Bright and starring Reese Witherspoon and Kiefer Sutherland. The movie is loosely based on the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood. It follows the story of Vanessa Lutz, a troubled young girl from a dysfunctional family who sets out on a road trip to find her grandmother after her mother is arrested for prostitution.

During her journey, Lutz meets Bob Wolverton, a charming and seemingly helpful school counselor who volunteers to give her a ride. However, it soon becomes clear that Bob is not who he appears to be. Lutz discovers that he is actually the I-5 Killer, a notorious serial killer who preys on young girls.

After realizing the danger she is in, Lutz manages to outwit Wolverton and shoot him several times, leaving him for dead. However, Wolverton survives and begins to pursue Lutz across the state in a desperate attempt to silence her before she can implicate him in his crimes.

As Lutz tries to evade Wolverton and make it to her grandmother's house, she must use all her street smarts and survival skills to stay alive. The film is a tense, darkly comic thriller that explores themes of abuse, resilience, and the struggle for survival in a harsh and unforgiving world.
