Freeway II: Confessions of a Trickbaby is a 1999 crime thriller film directed by Matthew Bright. The film stars Natasha Lyonne and Maria Celedonio in lead roles. It acts as a modern retelling of the fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood."
Crystal (Natasha Lyonne) is a troubled teenager who has been repeatedly abused by her stepfather. After killing her stepfather in self-defense, she is sent to juvenile prison. When she is transferred to an adult prison, she meets a fellow inmate named Cyclona (Maria Celedonio), who is a self-proclaimed serial killer. Cyclona sees Crystal as her "little red riding hood" and protects her from other inmates. They eventually escape from prison and flee to Tijuana, where they decide to go their separate ways.
Crystal goes to find her grandmother, who she believes will take care of her. But when she arrives, she finds out that her grandmother is actually a drug addict who sells her into prostitution. Cyclona, who has been masquerading as a nun in Tijuana, takes Crystal under her wing again and helps her escape from the sex trade. They then team up to seek revenge on those who have wronged them.
The film received mixed reviews upon its release, with critics praising the performances of Lyonne and Celedonio, but criticizing the film's dark and violent content. Despite its controversy, the film has attained cult status and is considered a notable entry in the exploitation film genre.
