Free to Play is a documentary that follows the personal journeys of three professional gamers as they prepare to compete in a $1,000,000 Dota 2 tournament hosted by Valve Corporation.
The first gamer is Dendi, a Ukrainian player who is considered one of the best Dota 2 players in the world. Despite his success, Dendi struggles with the pressures of living up to his family's expectations and the sacrifices he has made to pursue his gaming career.
The second gamer is Fear, an American player who has suffered from a wrist injury that threatens his ability to play competitively. Fear must overcome his physical limitations and the fear of letting down his team in order to compete in the tournament.
The third gamer is Hyhy, a Singaporean player who faces pressure from his family to quit gaming and focus on his studies. Hyhy must weigh the potential rewards of the tournament against the risks of disappointing his family and jeopardizing his future.
As the tournament approaches, each player faces a unique set of challenges and personal struggles. But they are united in their passion for the game and their desire to win the tournament. The documentary culminates in a dramatic showdown between the three teams, as the players fight for the chance to change their lives forever.
