Freaky Deaky follows the story of Chris Mankowski, a Detroit police officer who is suspended for using excessive force during a raid. He is hired by Woody Ricks, a millionaire who used to be a '60s radical, to investigate a blackmail scheme against him.
As Chris digs deeper, he uncovers a plot set in motion by Woody's former partner, Donnell Lewis, and his girlfriend, Robin Abbott. They plan to extort money from Woody in exchange for a fake bomb they have made to stage a kidnapping and ransom scenario.
Meanwhile, Woody and his former lover, Ellie, have been reunited and are trying to make a film based on Woody's life. However, they struggle to find investors and production is halted until they can come up with the money.
Chris finds himself caught up in the middle of these conflicting interests, as he tries to prevent the bomb plot, solve the blackmail scheme, and maintain his job as a police officer.
Freaky Deaky is a dark comedy-crime film based on the novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard. The film stars Christian Slater, Billy Burke, and Crispin Glover, and was directed by Charles Matthau. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2012.
