Drama,Comedy,Romance  United States of America

Frankie and Johnny is a romantic comedy-drama film directed by Garry Marshall and released in 1991. The film stars Al Pacino as Johnny and Michelle Pfeiffer as Frankie. The story is based on the successful play "Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune" by Terrence McNally.

Johnny is an ex-convict who just got out of prison after serving time for forgery. He lands a job as a short-order cook at a New York diner, where he meets the beautiful and reserved Frankie, who works there as a waitress. Despite Johnny's initial attempts to woo her, Frankie is wary of getting involved with him because of his criminal past and his reputation as a ladies' man.

Their coworkers at the diner, including the friendly and outgoing Tim (played by Nathan Lane), encourage Frankie to give Johnny a chance. Slowly, Frankie starts to let her guard down and opens up to Johnny, sharing her fears and insecurities with him. Johnny, in turn, shows her a tender and caring side that she never saw before.

As their relationship blossoms, Johnny and Frankie face various obstacles, including their own emotional baggage and the interference of jealous ex-lovers. However, they manage to work through these challenges, realizing that their love for each other is worth fighting for.

The film is notable for its sensitive portrayal of two flawed characters trying to find meaning and love in their lives. Pacino and Pfeiffer give powerful performances, displaying remarkable chemistry on screen. The movie's music score, which features Claude Debussy's "Clair de Lune," adds to the film's romantic and dreamy atmosphere.
