Forty Guns is a Western film released in 1957. It was directed by Samuel Fuller, who also wrote the screenplay. The movie stars Barbara Stanwyck as Jessica Drummond, an authoritarian rancher who controls a county in Arizona with her private posse of hired guns. She is also the owner of "Forty Guns," a group of cowboys who are feared by everyone in the county.

Into this situation comes Griff Bonnell (Barry Sullivan), a new Marshal who is determined to assert his authority and bring law and order to the county. Griff brings with him his two brothers, Wes (Gene Barry) and Chico (Robert Dix), who are both itchy-fingered and quick to draw their guns.

As Griff works to bring law and order to the county, he finds himself falling for Jessica, who is also attracted to him. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Jessica's brother, Brockie (John Ericson), is a vicious gunslinger who is determined to protect his sister's interests no matter what the cost.

As tensions rise and violence escalates, Griff must confront Brockie and the "Forty Guns" in a final showdown that will determine the fate of the county. Along the way, he is joined by a female gunfighter named Louvenia (Eve Brent), who has her own agenda and adds an additional layer of complexity to the story.

Forty Guns is a classic Western that explores themes of power, violence, and love in a beautifully shot and expertly acted film that has stood the test of time.
