Flirt is a 1995 independent film directed by Hal Hartley. The movie is divided into three different stories which take place in three different cities - New York, Berlin, and Tokyo.

Each story revolves around the same basic premise - a young man named Bill is torn between two women. In each story, Bill's lover is leaving the city and he has to decide whether he wants to commit to her or remain with his current partner, who is either an ex-girlfriend or someone else in a "permanent" relationship.

In the first story, which takes place in New York, Bill (played by Bill Sage) is dating Emily (Parker Posey) but still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Bridget (played by Dwight Ewell). Meanwhile, Emily is planning on moving to Paris. Bill must choose whether to follow her or stay in New York with Bridget.

The second story takes place in Berlin, where Bill (played by Martin Donovan) is in a relationship with a woman named Else (played by Miho Nikaido), who is married to a wealthy industrialist. Bill is also attracted to a young French woman named Marie (played by Julie Delpy), who he meets at a party. Else offers Bill a way out of his mundane life by suggesting they run away together, but he is torn between her and Marie.

Finally, the third story takes place in Tokyo, where Bill (played by Hartley regular, James Urbaniak) is living with his girlfriend, Hiroshi (played by Miho Nikaido, in a dual role), while secretly seeing a woman named Ange (played by Hiroko Takahashi). Hiroshi discovers Bill's infidelity and gives him an ultimatum - he must choose between her and Ange.

Throughout the three stories, Bill is presented with different moral dilemmas and must decide what he values most - love, security, or freedom. The movie is an exploration of human relationships and how they are affected by geography and culture.
