The Revenge of Chen Zhen

Action  Hong Kong

Fist of Legend is a 1994 martial arts film directed by Gordon Chan and starring Jet Li. The film is a remake of Bruce Lee's 1972 film, Fist of Fury.

The movie is set in 1937 Shanghai, during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Chen Zhen (Jet Li) is a Chinese student who has been studying in Japan and has fallen in love with Mitsuko Yamada (Shinobu Nakayama), the daughter of the director of his school. Chen returns to China after the death of his master, who was killed in a fight with Japanese fighter Ryuichi Akutagawa.

When Chen arrives back in Shanghai, he discovers that his master was actually murdered by the Japanese and that the local Chinese people are being treated very badly by the occupying forces. Chen decides to take matters into his own hands and starts to fight back against the Japanese, using his martial arts skills to take on entire groups of soldiers.

As Chen's activities become more and more daring, he becomes a symbol of hope for the Chinese people, who start to rally behind him. However, this also makes him a target for the Japanese, who are determined to stop him at all costs.

Fist of Legend is known for its intense fight scenes and has been praised for its historical accuracy. It also explores themes of nationalism, racism, and cultural identity, as well as the power of martial arts to bring people together.
