Durell (Ice Cube) is a single father struggling to make ends meet and raise his young son, but his life takes a turn for the worse when he gets laid off from his job. To make matters worse, he owes $17,000 in back child support payments, and if he doesn't come up with the money soon, he stands to lose custody of his son.
His best friend LeeJohn (Tracy Morgan) comes up with a plan to rob their local church in order to get the money they need, but things quickly spiral out of control when they accidentally take the church congregation hostage. As they try to negotiate their way out of the situation, they begin to realize that they are in the presence of something much greater than they ever could have imagined.
