In First Snow, a man named Jimmy Starks (played by Guy Pearce) is a slick salesman whose car breaks down in a New Mexico town while on a business trip. He visits a psychic (played by J.K. Simmons) who tells him that he'll die when the first snow falls. Despite initially not believing in the prediction, Jimmy becomes increasingly paranoid and obsessed with his mortality as winter approaches.
As he grapples with his impending doom, Jimmy tries to fix past mistakes and right some wrongs before he dies. He attempts to reconnect with his estranged girlfriend (played by Piper Perabo), reconcile with a former friend (played by William Fichtner) he betrayed, and confront a dangerous criminal (played by Shea Whigham) he owes a debt to.
As the snow begins to fall, Jimmy's fears escalate and he becomes increasingly desperate to avoid his fate. The ending of the movie leaves the viewer to question whether or not the psychic's prediction was truly accurate or if Jimmy's own paranoia caused his downfall.
