Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is a Japanese computer-animated action-adventure film directed by Tetsuya Nomura and Takeshi Nozue, and produced by Yoshinori Kitase and Shinji Hashimoto. It is based on the role-playing video game Final Fantasy VII by Square (now Square Enix).
The movie is set two years after the events of Final Fantasy VII, in a world that is still recovering from the destruction caused by the ultimate weapon called Meteor. The main character, Cloud Strife (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai), is a former member of the elite mercenary group called SOLDIER and once fought against Sephiroth, a superhuman warrior who sought to become a god. Cloud now lives as a loner in the outskirts of Midgar, haunted by his past and his failures.
As Geostigma spreads across the population, Cloud is summoned by his old ally Tifa Lockhart (voiced by Ayumi Ito) to investigate a mysterious trio of men known as the Remnants of Sephiroth, who seem to be connected to the disease. Cloud must also confront his own inner demons and face a new enemy who seeks to revive Sephiroth and destroy the world.
Along the way, Cloud reunites with his former comrades from AVALANCHE, including Barret Wallace (voiced by Masahiro Kobayashi), Red XIII (voiced by Masachika Ichimura), and Yuffie Kisaragi (voiced by Yumi Kakazu), as well as the mysterious Kadaj (voiced by Shoutarou Morikubo), the leader of the Remnants, and his brothers Loz (voiced by Kenji Nomura) and Yazoo (voiced by Yuuji Kishi).
The movie features stunning graphics, intense action sequences, and a dramatic storyline that explores themes of loss, redemption, and the power of memories. It also includes appearances by fan-favorite characters such as Cid Highwind (voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji), Vincent Valentine (voiced by Kouhei Takeda), and Sephiroth himself (voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa).
