Fear City is a 1984 crime thriller film directed by Abel Ferrara, starring Tom Berenger, Billy Dee Williams, and Melanie Griffith. The movie is set in the dangerous and gritty world of the New York City strip club scene, where two detectives and a private investigator must team up to stop a serial killer who is targeting strippers.
The movie begins with a gruesome murder, in which a stripper is brutally killed by an unknown assailant. As more strippers fall victim to the killer, the authorities become more desperate to catch him. Enter Matt Rossi (Tom Berenger), a former boxer turned private investigator, who is hired by strip club owners to help track down the killer.
Matt teams up with his former boxing coach and NYPD officer, Al Wheeler (Billy Dee Williams), and they start investigating the murders. As they dig deeper, they discover that all the victims have something in common: they were all once involved with a notorious gangster named Carmine (Jack Scalia). It turns out that Carmine has a grudge against the strippers and seeks revenge for a past wrongdoing.
As they close in on Carmine, Matt and Al find themselves in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with the killer. They soon realize that the killer is actually a hired hitman, and they must find and stop him before he claims any more lives.
With intense action sequences, a gripping storyline, and powerful performances from its cast, Fear City is a thrilling and suspenseful movie that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
