Fauve

Drama  Canada

Fauve is a short film that tells the story of two young boys, Tyler and Benjamin, who are playing in an abandoned surface mine in rural Quebec. The boys take turns trying to outdo each other with dangerous stunts and daring feats, pushing each other to the limits of their physical abilities. They explore the mine, running, jumping and climbing on abandoned mining equipment and structures, the vast terrain becomes their playground.

As the game goes on, the stakes are raised and the boys become increasingly reckless, taking more and more risks in their attempts to outdo each other. Suddenly, an accident occurs that forces them to face the dangerous reality of their game. Caught in a precarious situation, the boys must rely on their own ingenuity and courage to get out of the mine before it's too late.

Fauve is a powerful and unsettling film that examines the often-overlooked dangers of childhood play. The film raises important questions about the nature of risk-taking and the capacity for children to understand the consequences of their actions. Through its intense and visceral storytelling, Fauve delivers a sobering message about the importance of setting boundaries and exercising caution, even in moments of exhilaration and adventure.
