Fate of Alakada is a Nigerian comedic film directed by Kayode Kasum. It follows the story of Yetunde, a young woman who is determined to make it big in Lagos by any means necessary. She resorts to faking her way through life and pretending to be someone she is not on social media to gain popularity and make money.
Yetunde's façade comes crashing down when she tries to attend a movie premiere but is caught out by the security guard. Her friend, Kas, who is also a fake influencer, helps her out by pretending to be her manager and convincing the event organizers to let her in. While at the event, Yetunde meets a successful event planner who tells her about the lucrative nature of the business.
Determined to make it big, Yetunde adopts the persona of a successful event planner and sets out to plan the party of the year for celebrity couple Swanky Jerry and Stephanie. She spends days preparing and recruiting celebrity guests to attend, all while still pretending to be someone she is not.
The film pokes fun at the current Nigerian pop culture and highlights the dangers of pretending to be someone you are not on social media. The comedic tone and witty script make for an entertaining and enjoyable watch. It stars popular Nigerian actors and actresses such as Toyin Abraham, Broda Shaggi, and Odunlade Adekola.
