The movie Fat Albert is a live-action adaptation of the popular children's cartoon of the same name, created by Bill Cosby. It follows the adventures of Fat Albert and his gang of friends, who live in a world that exists inside a TV set. One day, while watching TV in the real world, they hear a young girl named Doris crying over her lack of friends. Touched by her plight, Fat Albert decides to help her by bringing his friends into the real world.
However, when they arrive in the real world, they find that things are not as simple as they thought they would be. They are dismayed to discover that they have become three-dimensional and are no longer cartoons. They also find that they can't return to their own world until they help Doris make some new friends. With the help of a sympathetic teenager named Lauri, Fat Albert and his friends set out to introduce Doris to a wider circle of people.
Along the way, they encounter some challenges and obstacles, including a bully named Reggie and a skeptical teacher named Mr. Mudfoot. However, with their characteristic humor, wit, and heart, the gang manages to overcome these obstacles and bring joy to Doris's life. In the end, they realize that they have also learned some valuable lessons about friendship, loyalty, and self-confidence.
