Fast Color is a 2018 superhero drama film directed by Julia Hart. The story takes place in a dystopian world where rain is a rare commodity, and the remnants of society struggle to survive. In this world, Ruth (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is a young woman with supernatural abilities that she has kept hidden her entire life. She has the power to create earthquakes and control the environment around her.

After using her powers in public, Ruth is forced to go on the run from government agents who are trying to capture her. She travels to her childhood home, where she is reunited with her estranged mother Bo (Lorraine Toussaint) and her young daughter Lila (Saniyya Sidney).

As Ruth struggles to control her powers, she learns more about her family's history of superhuman abilities. She and Bo clash over their differing beliefs on how to handle Ruth's powers and what her responsibilities are as a superhuman. Meanwhile, Lila discovers her own abilities and helps her mother and grandmother navigate their complex relationship.

With the government closing in and Ruth's powers becoming more unstable, the three generations of women must come together to fight for their survival and protect their family's legacy. Fast Color explores themes of family, self-discovery, and the consequences of power.
