Fantastic Planet, also known as La Planete Sauvage, is a 1973 animated science fiction film directed by Rene Laloux and written by Roland Topor. The movie is based on the novel "Oms en serie" by French writer Stefan Wul.

The film begins with an explanation of how the blue giants, known as Draags, have discovered a planet inhabited by tiny human-like creatures called Oms, who are considered inferior to the Draags and are used as pets and experimental subjects. The Oms are kept in cages or on leashes and are treated like animals, often killed for entertainment.

Terr, the protagonist Om, is separated from his mother as a baby and is taken in by a young Draag girl named Tiva, who raises him as a pet. Tiva teaches Terr the Draag language and gives him access to her father's thought-reading device, which teaches him about the Draags' culture and society. As Terr learns more about the Draags, he becomes more aware of the subjugation and oppression of his fellow Oms and becomes determined to escape and start a revolution.

Terr manages to escape from Tiva's home and joins a group of wild Oms living in the forests. He learns how to communicate with them in a language they have developed to evade the Draags' detection devices. Terr becomes the leader of the Om rebellion and begins to train his fellow Oms to fight back against their oppressors.

As the Om rebellion gains momentum, the Draags become increasingly alarmed and plan to exterminate all the Oms. In a final confrontation, the Oms succeed in destroying the Draags' machines and freeing themselves from their captivity.

Fantastic Planet is a visually stunning and thought-provoking film that explores themes of oppression, resistance, and cultural imperialism. The film's unique animation style and imaginative setting make it a masterpiece of science fiction cinema.
