The four young outsiders are Reed Richards, a genius inventor; Sue Storm, a brilliant scientist and Reed's ex-girlfriend; her hot-headed younger brother Johnny; and Ben Grimm, Reed's best friend and a former football star. They are working on a top-secret experiment that goes awry and teleports them to an alternate dimension known as the Negative Zone.
The four discover that the experience has left them with extraordinary abilities. Reed can stretch his body like rubber, Sue can turn invisible and create force fields, Johnny can fly and control fire, and Ben has been transformed into a rock-like creature with superhuman strength.
As they struggle to cope with their new powers and their drastically altered appearances, they are pursued by their former colleague, Victor von Doom, who was left behind in the original experiment and has been transformed into a powerful, malevolent being known as Doctor Doom.
The Fantastic Four must learn to use their newfound abilities to stop Doom's plan to destroy Earth and save the planet from certain doom. Along the way, they come to terms with their altered identities and learn to work together as a team.
