Fanney Khan is a Bollywood musical drama film that was directed by Atul Manjrekar and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Anil Kapoor. The movie is a remake of the Belgian film "Everybody's Famous!". The story revolves around a middle-aged man named Prashant Sharma, aka Fanney Khan, who is a die-hard fan of the famous singer Mohammad Rafi. He once dreamt of becoming a singer himself but had to give up his dreams due to financial issues.
Fanney Khan works as a taxi driver to earn his livelihood and takes up odd jobs to support his family. He lives with his wife, Kavita, and daughter, Lata, in a small apartment in Mumbai. He shares a strong bond with his daughter, who is an aspiring singer and participates in local music competitions.
One day, Fanney Khan gets a chance to perform at a local wedding, where he gets noticed by an industry insider who asks him to pay a hefty sum for getting a chance to sing. In order to fulfill his daughter's dream of becoming a successful singer, Fanney Khan decides to kidnap the popular pop star Baby Singh, played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and demands that she help his daughter become a rising star in the music industry.
Things do not go as planned, and Fanney Khan gets caught by the police. In the end, his daughter Lata becomes a successful singer, and Fanney Khan realizes that his dream of becoming a singer may not have come true, but his daughter's dream has.
The movie features an ensemble cast, including Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, and Divya Dutta. The soundtrack of the movie was composed by Amit Trivedi, who also composed the background score. The film premiered on 3 August 2018 and received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences.
