In the movie fanboys, a group of five friends are huge Star Wars fanatics who grew up together in Ohio. When one of their friends, Linus, is diagnosed with cancer and given only months to live, the group decides to embark on a wild road trip to fulfill their friend's dying wish of seeing the highly anticipated Star Wars prequel, The Phantom Menace, before its official release.
The journey takes them from Ohio to Texas, where they pick up a friend who works at Skywalker Ranch, and then to Las Vegas, where they plan to break into Skywalker Ranch to steal a copy of the movie. Along the way, they encounter a group of Trekkies, run-ins with the law, and various other obstacles.
The group eventually makes it to Skywalker Ranch, where they are caught attempting to steal the movie. However, George Lucas himself intervenes and allows them to watch the movie in his private screening room. The friends ultimately come to terms with the fact that their love for Star Wars brought them together and helped them through the difficult time of losing their friend.
