In "Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest," the Griffin family is stuck at home during a power outage, and Peter decides to pass the time by retelling the story of "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" in his own unique way.
As Peter narrates the story, the Griffin family takes on the roles of iconic "Star Wars" characters such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. The family dog, Brian, plays the role of Chewbacca, while Peter himself plays several roles including Obi-Wan Kenobi and the voice of Emperor Palpatine.
The special also features a number of references to other pop culture icons, including Indiana Jones, Transformers, and Battlestar Galactica. The animation style is a playful spoof of the original "Star Wars" film, with the characters rendered in the distinctive "Family Guy" style.
"Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest" was the first of three "Star Wars" spoof episodes from "Family Guy," with subsequent episodes featuring parodies of "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." The special also includes bonus features such as commentary from the show's creators, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the episode, and a documentary on the history of "Star Wars" fandom.
