False Trail is a Swedish crime thriller directed by Kjell Sundvall. The movie stars Rolf Lassgard as Erik Backstrom, a respected interrogator in Stockholm who returns to his small hometown in Norrland to investigate the gruesome murder of a young woman. Upon arriving, Erik discovers that the local police force is not supportive of his presence, especially Torsten (Peter Stormare), the chief of police.
Despite the lack of cooperation from the local police, Erik begins to investigate the case on his own and soon uncovers disturbing evidence that implicates some of the locals, including his own family members. As he delves deeper into the investigation, Erik becomes increasingly embroiled in the complex web of lies and deceit that have engulfed the town.
