Fall in Love at First Kiss is a 2019 Taiwanese romantic comedy film directed by Frankie Chen. The story is based on the Japanese manga series "Itazura na Kiss" or "Mischievous Kiss" by Kaoru Tada.
After Xiang Qin's house is destroyed by an earthquake, she and her father move in with the family of her father's college buddy. To her surprise, the family is the parents of her schoolmate, Jiang Zhi Shu, who is a genius with an IQ of 200 and is famous for being cold and distant. Not too long ago, when Xiang Qin confessed her feelings for him, he rejected her.
As Xiang Qin starts living with the family, she finds her new aunt and uncle kind and amicable. Despite Zhi Shu's initial coldness towards her, she tries to win his heart again with her sincere and straightforward approach. However, Zhi Shu's genius mind often makes him dismiss Xiang Qin's thoughts and ideas, leaving her heartbroken.
As Xiang Qin tries to balance her school life and her new living arrangements while pursuing Zhi Shu's heart, she faces various obstacles, including Zhi Shu's ex-girlfriend, who tries to come between them. Will Xiang Qin's persistent efforts to win Zhi Shu's heart succeed, or will she move on from her first love?
The film stars Darren Wang as Jiang Zhi Shu and Jelly Lin as Xiang Qin, and it features a cameo appearance by the original manga creator, Kaoru Tada. The movie received mixed reviews, with some praising the chemistry between the two leads, while others criticized the portrayal of toxic relationship dynamics.
