In the movie Extinction, the chief mechanic, Peter, played by actor Michael Peña, is struggling with recurring nightmares of the end of the world. He seeks solace in his family, including his wife Alice, played by actress Lizzy Caplan, and their two daughters.
As Peter's nightmares become more intense, he begins to see signs of an impending invasion. When extraterrestrial forces invade Earth, Peter must use his skills as a mechanic to help his community survive.
