Execution Squad is a 1972 Italian crime drama directed by Steno and starring actor Mario Adorf as Bertone. The film tells the story of Bertone, a homicide cop in Rome who becomes disillusioned with the corrupt and ineffective court system. As a result, he bands together with a group of his fellow officers to form an underground "execution squad" that takes justice into their own hands.
At first, Bertone and his co-workers use their vigilante methods to target only the most ruthless and dangerous criminals in the city. But as the body count rises and their actions become more extreme, Bertone starts to question the morality of what they're doing. He also finds himself at odds with some of his fellow officers, who become consumed with revenge and bloodlust.
As the tension between Bertone and his colleagues reaches a boiling point, the film builds to its explosive climax. Execution Squad has been praised for its gritty, realistic portrayal of police corruption, as well as its strong performances and intense action sequences.
